Creepy Halloween Cocktails

It’s Spooky Season, everyone! Halloween is soon here and with that in mind, we offer some simple drinks that are frightfully delight-filled!

WALKER BLOOD SANGRIA

Inspired by The Walking Dead, this eerie drink is just for you! The impressive pomegranate sangria shots are precisely what you want for those Halloween Horror movie nights.

YOU WILL NEED:
  • 750 ml bottle of red wine (original recipe used Merlot)
  • 2 cups pomegranate juice
  • 1/4 cup Cointreau or any orange liqueur
  • 2 cups of sparkling water
  • 2 cups of ice if desired
  • 1 cup pomegranate arils (optional)
  • 2 oranges sliced (optional)
METHOD

Step One: Mix and Chill
Pour the red wine, orange liqueur and pomegranate juice into a large jug and mix well. Place the mixture in the fridge to chill for at least 4 hours but for best results, chill overnight.

Step Two: Mix some More
Take your chilled mixture and pour in the sparkling water. Stir well. For some extra chill, add some more ice.

Step Three: Occasional Garnish
Adding some pomegranate arils and a few orange slices will make for a good garnish. This is optional, adding garnish lends itself to a wonderful recipe even after the spooky season.

PUMPKIN PUNCH

YOU WILL NEED:
  • 1 pumpkin
  • 400ml coconut rum
  • 200ml pomegranate juice
  • 200ml orange juice
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 400ml ginger ale
  • ice, to serve
  • 2 oranges, sliced, to serve
  • 2 tbsp pomegranate seeds, to serve
METHOD:

Step one: Prepare the Pumpkin
Carefully carve out the top the pumpkin to create a wide enough opening. Using a large metal spoon, remove all seeds ensuring a thick layer of the pumpkin wall is kept intact.

Step Two: Mix the Cocktail
Pour all the liquids into a large jug and leave in the fridge to chill before continuing on to the final step.

Step Three: Get the Garnish
Fill your pumpkin ‘punch bowl’ with ice and add the chilled cocktail mix. To garnish, add the orange slices and pomegranate seeds

PURPLE PEOPLE EATER COCKTAIL

The deep purple hue of this creepy cocktail will be best suited for those who come out in the dark of night. Not only does it retain its cool look, but the ingredients are also marvellous together.

 

YOU WILL NEED:
  • simple syrup (optional) – can use water or juice instead
  • purple sugar such as sanding sugar (aka sprinkles)
  • 1 1/2 part vodka
  • 1 part blue curacao
  • 1 part sweet and sour mix
  • 1 part grenadine
  • 1 part cranberry juice can also use grape juice
METHOD:

Step One: Prep the Glasses
Pour out the purple sugar onto a plate. Wet the rim of the glasses with simple syrup, cranberry juice or water, and coat the area with the purple sugar.

Step Two: Shake and Serve!
Combine all of the rest of the liquid ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Shake until well mixed. Fill your previously prepared glasses and serve straight away!

Enjoy these drinks in the comfort of your inspired outdoor setting.
