Creepy Halloween Cocktails

It’s Spooky Season, everyone! Halloween is soon here and with that in mind, we offer some simple drinks that are frightfully delight-filled!

Walker Blood Sangria

Inspired by The Walking Dead, this eerie drink is just for you! The impressive pomegranate sangria shots are precisely what you want for those Halloween Horror movie nights.

  • 750 ml bottle of red wine (original recipe used Merlot)
  • 2 cups pomegranate juice
  • 1/4 cup Cointreau or any orange liqueur
  • 2 cups of sparkling water
  • 2 cups of ice if desired
  • 1 cup pomegranate arils (optional)
  • 2 oranges sliced (optional)

Step One: Mix and Chill
Pour the red wine, orange liqueur and pomegranate juice into a large jug and mix well. Place the mixture in the fridge to chill for at least 4 hours but for best results, chill overnight.

Step Two: Mix some More
Take your chilled mixture and pour in the sparkling water. Stir well. For some extra chill, add some more ice.

Step Three: Occasional Garnish
Adding some pomegranate arils and a few orange slices will make for a good garnish. This is optional, adding garnish lends itself to a wonderful recipe even after the spooky season.

Since pumpkins are associated with Halloween we start with this Caribbean inspired Pumpkin Punch. It surely is amusingly wicked…

  • 1 pumpkin
  • 400ml coconut rum
  • 200ml pomegranate juice
  • 200ml orange juice
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 400ml ginger ale
  • ice, to serve
  • 2 oranges, sliced, to serve
  • 2 tbsp pomegranate seeds, to serve

Step one: Prepare the Pumpkin
Carefully carve out the top the pumpkin to create a wide enough opening. Using a large metal spoon, remove all seeds ensuring a thick layer of the pumpkin wall is kept intact.

Step Two: Mix the Cocktail
Pour all the liquids into a large jug and leave in the fridge to chill before continuing on to the final step.

Step Three: Get the Garnish
Fill your pumpkin ‘punch bowl’ with ice and add the chilled cocktail mix. To garnish, add the orange slices and pomegranate seeds
