Maintaining Metal Patio Furniture

WROUGHT IRON

When cleaning, use non-abrasive materials to remove dust or dirt. For a little extra protection and shine, a light coating of car wax can be applied to aluminium surfaces. This helps with the prevention of corrosion and oxidisation.

STEEL

Aesthetically, stainless steel presents you with an air of luxury and glamour. Known for its strength and stability, stainless steel patio furniture is not easily bent or dented, unlike Aluminium. It is best suited for larger pieces that may bear a lot of weight. Steel patio furniture is heavy and will not blow away in strong winds. However, this does make it difficult to move around.

When it comes to maintenance, stainless steel is very easy to preserve. Like all metal patio furniture, it is essential to prevent rust. Luckily, stainless steel is more resistant to rust as compared with other metals such as wrought iron. Apart from rust, rain can cause grease and streaks but both can easily be removed with the use of a soft damp cloth and white vinegar. However, when using vinegar ensure that you rinse the furniture thoroughly afterwards.
